Accidental Death and Dismemberment

If death or dismemberment as described above occurs as a result of an accident while traveling as a paying passenger by public bus, public vehicle, taxi, boat, or any other vehicle operated as a means of authorized public transportation, or in an aircraft operated by an incorporated carrier in one of its established routes, or in an official school bus while it is being operated in an authorized trip, Triple-S Vida will pay an additional amount equal to the amount payable for death or dismemberment. The payment of this benefit will end the policy.

We provide coverage for death as a direct result, regardless of other causes, of accidental injury suffered while the policy is in effect, provided that the death occurs within 90 days of the accident.

Our accidental death insurance allows you to choose coverage among $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000. This product has the advantage that the death benefit will increase annually by 10% from the original coverage up to twice the coverage. This increase involves no change in the premium set originally. The payment of this benefit will end the policy.

In case of injuries from an accident occurred while the policy is in effect resulting in one of the following losses, we will pay the following benefit:

• Loss of vision in both eyes – Amount of insurance
• Loss of both hands – Amount of insurance
• Loss of both feet – Amount of insurance
• Loss of one hand and one foot – Amount of insurance
• Loss of one foot and vision in one eye – Amount of insurance
• Loss of one hand and vision in one eye – Amount of insurance
• Loss of one hand – Half the amount of insurance
• Loss of one foot – Half the amount of insurance
• Loss of vision in one eye – Half the amount of insurance

When we use the term “loss” in relation to a hand or foot, it means complete loss up to or above the wrist or ankle. When used in relation to an arm or leg, it means complete loss up to or above the elbow or knee. When we use this term in relation to one eye, it means total and irrecoverable loss of vision.

We will not pay losses that exceed the preceding table. If more than one of the stated losses occur, we will pay the loss that represents the greatest benefit to you. The payment of this benefit will end the policy.
