Heart and Cerebrovascular Accidents
Every day, lots of people in Puerto Rico survive a heart attack or stroke, but do not have the money to cover their treatment. Triple-S Vida’s Heart and Stroke Policy has been specially designed to meet these circumstances. This policy covers medical and hospitalization expenses associated with the definitive treatment of heart disease, a heart attack or a stroke.
The Heart and Stroke Policy covers these expenses, among others:
- Hospitalization
- Blood, plasma, and platelets
- Transportation and lodging for the insured
- Transportation and lodging for an accompanying family member
- Surgery
- Electrocardiogram
- Anesthesia
- Heart transplant
- Head physician visits during hospitalization
- Medical equipment for home use
- Ambulance
- Drugs
- Nursing services
- Physiotherapy
- Oxygen
This coverage is available to people aged between 0 and 70 years. There is a premium for people under 65 and another for people over 65 to 70 years. The policy has two benefit levels, identified as A and B. The difference is in the amounts payable by the various benefits and the corresponding premium. Cover A has twice the benefit limit as cover B. The basic policy has a waiting period of 30 days from the effective date. During this period, no benefits are payable for conditions covered by the policy. If a loss that would be covered under the policy occurs during this period, the policyholder has the option to request the cancellation of the policy and reimbursement of premiums paid.
